[ Okay, Erik thought maybe if he had an hour to calm down he would, but he didn't. And now he's on his way to Heropa to see his grandson. Well, he's already seen his grandson. But... should he have brought something? Is this a family reunion? He feels a little bit of a twist in his stomach. If this isn't a joke, then he has a family.
And when he told Billy he was lucky to have family here, then really, Erik's hit the jackpot.
He knocks on the door, and for a good long second his mind is telling him to run for it. There's no way this is real. He's making a fool of himself. ]
[ At least he knocked, instead of just barging in, which he can do. Obviously. One of the telltale parts of being a Magneto. ]
Billy.
[ He looks at Billy, searches his face for something. His eyes. His stubborn jaw. His sharp cheek bones.
He sees, instead, everything. Everything he was looking for, more than that, answers to questions he had about the universe, questions that were previously locked away amorphously in his head. Before him is a boy who's about to become a man, in the same way he was not too long ago, but years in the future. It's just as humbling as standing on the grounds of his ancestors seeing what kind of things they left for him. What will he leave for Billy? What sort of world, what personal legacy will he leave for this boy who was just a stranger, barely an acquaintance an hour ago, who is now his future?
Erik takes one step inside and there isn't enough room to shut the door when he pulls Billy into an embrace. It's long, and quiet, and sort of awkward, but it serves as a focal point to tie down some of his whirling thoughts. ]
But he likes hugs, he does, at least, he likes this hug, so he returns it. He puts his face right against Erik's shoulder, because he's kind of short compared to his impressively tall grandfather (seriously why is he so short) and maybe he doesn't feel so sad for the first time since Teddy left.]
Sorry.
[He mumbles that a little.]
...I HAD THIS OPEN FOR LIKE TWO HOURS FORGOT TO HIT SUBMIT
I'm not sure what I would've done had our roles been reversed.
[ Probably not told Billy. Just watched out for him, from afar. So at least they've (sort of) got that in common, trying to avoid their familial problems. ]

ACTION
And when he told Billy he was lucky to have family here, then really, Erik's hit the jackpot.

He wishes Teddy were here.
When he hears the knock, he opens the door, and looks out, taking a moment. Erik is probably not too happy with him, right now.
But then he opens it all the way.]
Come in.
[The apartment is clean, at least.]

Oh, this is happening.
He's never really-
But he likes hugs, he does, at least, he likes this hug, so he returns it. He puts his face right against Erik's shoulder, because he's kind of short compared to his impressively tall grandfather (seriously why is he so short) and maybe he doesn't feel so sad for the first time since Teddy left.]

[ He almost laughs. ]
I'm not sure what I would've done had our roles been reversed.

Does your... mother live here?
no subject
[He untangles, after a moment.]
She doesn't really talk to me much.
no subject
[ He does laugh this time, just one huff of a laugh, amused. It was his original idea, after all. ]
no subject
You don't have to, I mean, she doesn't know you're here, or probably that-
[You're her father are the words Billy does not say. He just looks slightly away, then.]
She doesn't know you're here yet.
no subject
She doesn't know you're her son?
no subject
I think she's only a few years older than me. Maybe two or three, max.
[Everyone is so young except Billy. Then again, if he were sixteen this would be an even bigger disaster, so.]
no subject
[ Yeah he's not following the problem here, Billy. ]
no subject
[He squirms a bit.]
I don't know if it's simple at all. You didn't...raise her.
no subject
What do you mean I didn't raise her?
She doesn't know who I am?
no subject
[He's never really asked. But then he's only had about one conversation with her, so.]
no subject
[ If he thinks THIS part is bad... ]
no subject
Are you-
[No, he knows. He's sure.
Billy lets out a measured breath]
Okay, so I don't think you knew about them. The twins.
no subject
[ More context is needed, Billy. ]
No, I definitely didn't know the twins. I didn't know until just now that I had any children.
[ Any live children. And a dead one who may or may not have existed... ]
no subject
[He doesn't know all the details, honestly.]
Or maybe before they were born.
no subject
And he really hates that version of himself, that would do that. ]
I don't know. They haven't been born yet.
[ Technically false... ]
Are they... mutants?
no subject
She does magic like me. He's a speedster.
[Like Tommy, he doesn't add, because that's another pile of nonsense to explain at some point or another.]
no subject
That's incredible. A whole family of mutants. Did you... practice, at home?
no subject
Well.
Hm.
In the grand tradition of this family, she didn't really...raise me, either.
[HA HA HA.]
